the veil
The veil is a symbol of the single experience underlying all of the human reality - meaning.
It is all that is selective and thus both obscuring and revealing.
Our neural matter, a cellular membrane, a piece of clothing, a national border - all act as veils, all carry and define meaning.
Veils both are and carry our names, stories and identities.
Meaning of everything in our lives can be seen through veils.
No matter the veil, all we see, think and speak is meaning.
The equivalence of context, identity, story, name and meaning will help us reveil our lives by answering the questions:
- What is my name?
- Why is my life so meaningless?
- How do I unveil what is true?
Identity
The identity is a meaningful coherence.
Its image emerges from repetitive violence impressing on a veil.
The veil's pattern is a shape, a story, a game, a code and a name.
Which of those images we perceive is determined by the context we perceive.
When context changes then veil, perception and meaning change.
No matter the context, all we see, think and speak is identity.
A meaning of a board game mirrors its identity and context as:
- a shape when we carry it;
- a story when we retell our wins and losses;
- a game and a code when we check the rules before a play.
Story
The story is an image of identity.
It is a veil with shapes gathered into a sequence.
It is a context giving meaning to all it wraps around.
Bigger stories veil over smaller ones.
Meaning of everything in our lives comes from higher identities.
No matter the identity, all we see, think and speak is story.
An image of us taking a gun is veiled by the meaning of a bigger story of us:
- going to a shooting range;
- hearing a noise downstairs;
- playing Russian roulette.
Name
The name is an image of identity.
It is a veil with sequences gathering a shape.
It is a context giving meaning to all it wraps around.
Higher names veil over lower ones.
Meaning of everything in our lives comes from bigger stories.
No matter the story, all we see, think and speak is name.
An image of our first name is veiled by the meaning of people calling us:
- a bunch of atoms in a random world;
- a product of society and evolution;
- a playground of a deadly virus.
What is my name?
I have two names and both are images of stories veiling over me.
One name is true and one name I know.
The name I perceive is a context giving meaning to all it wraps around.
Known name veils over true one.
Meaning of everything in my life comes from the stories I perceive.
No matter what I see before me - the true story is veiled by what I know.
Pain I feel and cause measures the distance between the two names:
- I know that I am "good" no matter how many hurt faces I see;
- I know that I am "smart" no matter how many mental shortcuts I take;
- I know that I am "right" no matter how many times I misspeak.
Why is my life so meaningless?
My life is meaningless because it is veiled by a known story which makes it seem so.
Distance from true story breaks coherence and meaning.
The story I perceive is a context breaking meaning of all it wraps around.
Known story veils over true one.
Meaning of everything in my life is taken by the false identity I perceive as greatest.
No matter why I elevate what I know - I break meaning in the process.
I cannot break meaning more and move further from the truth than by living in a story where:
- death is the end;
- everything is subjective;
- the world is random.
How do I unveil what is true?
I unveil what is true by seeking failure of what I know.
Higher coherence of what is true breaks lower coherence of what I know.
The more pain and less meaning I find the further apart the two names are.
The greatest identity I perceive is determined by the highest name I know.
When name fails then veil, perception and meaning break.
No matter how I name the highest - it is not true if I don't seek failure of the name I know.
I reveil my life with coherence and meaning through pain and meaninglessness and make my:
- body, heart and mind carry the highest name;
- past, present and future knit the largest story;
- world, people and self image the greatest identity.
